Description

Haleakala waterfall hike

Eons before the first humans set foot here, time and weather carved pristine valleys into the lush windward slopes of Haleakala (House of the Sun), a 10,023-foot dormant volcano believed to be 750,000 years old. Come explore! We’ll follow a meandering stream whose music, along with the area’s lush flora, enhances this fun-filled hike. The excursion ranges from an easy half-day walk to a moderate full-day walk.

The hike begins at an elevation of 500 feet and climbs past groves of guava, koa, eucalyptus and Java plum trees. As we ascend, we’ll see mountain-apple, bamboo and ginger, as well as endemic Hawaiian vegetation, and pass by waterfalls up to 60 feet high.

Be sure to bring a bathing suit and towel for a swim in one of the four or five cool, clear waterfall pools we'll encounter along the trail.

Half-day, 2 miles RT- Easy - $75

Full-day, 5 miles RT- Moderate - $120*

Hike Maui’s wilderness with a knowledgeable owner/guide who will share a wealth of information about island history, geology, flora and culture. Our hiking tours range from short and easy, to rigorous explorations of a Maui the average tourist seldom sees. If you are a hiking purist you will want to do these Maui tours.

As the owner and guide of Maui Hiking Safaris, I would like to extend to you an invitation to join me on the trail. I have been hiking on Maui since 1981 and have been in business since 1994. We are listed in Frommer’s Hawaii From $70 A Day, Frommer’s Portable Maui, Frommer’s 2000 Hawaii, Hawaii Handbook, Hidden Maui, Hawaii Adventures In Nature and The Complete Idiot’s Travel Guide To Hawaii. We’ve had articles written on us in the travel section of the Orange County Registar and Shape Magazine. We’ve recently had articles written on us in The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times about our Maui tours.

I take out groups consisting of no more than eight clients***. Additionally, when you book direct, you save, as I do not use activity agents or concierges (sometimes commisionable). Please make yourself well informed as regards to contractual steerage by brokers. I also offer discounts based on booking criteria that clients can meet. You also get great service and the small size of the group adds intimacy to the experience.

Please take a look at some of the testimonials clients have made about the hikes along with the reviews I have gotten on Trip Advisor. I personally assure you that this will be one of the highlights of your trip. I look forward to sharing with you the real Maui that I have become familiar with!
