Montana Ski Tour: western towns, historic hotels, hot springs, and locals' favorite ski resorts

Discover skiing off-the-beaten path in Montana! Featuring two of Montana’s ski resorts, OutWest’s ski tour brings you to undiscovered Rocky Mountain gems- Red Lodge and Bridger Bowl. Along the way, explore quaint towns, sample local mircobrews, stay in historic hotels, and soak in natural hot springs. If you are looking for great spring skiing, no crowds, fine food, hot water, and gay companionship, join OutWest Global Adventures on their signature Montana ski tour.

DAY ONE.  WELCOME TO BIG SKY COUNTRY!  Your OutWest trip leaders will greet you at the airport. From Billings, a short drive brings you to one of America’s last remaining true western ski towns- Red Lodge.

Your accommodations for the next two nights will be at the historic Pollard Hotel. Originally built in 1893, the property has been completely refurbished. This turn-of-the-century mining town with its unique Western flavor was visited by the likes of the Sundance Kid and Calamity Jane. After checking into the hotel, take some time to stroll down the main street where you’ll find quaint shops, art galleries, and western saloons. That evening OutWest Global Adventures hosts dinner at a local steakhouse.

DAYS TWO AND THREE.   SKIING AT RED LODGE MOUNTAIN.  This still undiscovered resort has doubled the size of its terrain and added two new high-speed quads in the last ten years. This means more time skiing, no time in line. The summit offers great views of the Beartooth Wilderness Mountain Range. The terrain is a mix of beginner, intermediate, and expert slopes with something for everyone. From long groomed cruisers to gladed tree skiing, you’ll find what you’re looking for.

After skiing or snowboarding, relax in the hotel’s sauna or kick-back with a drink in front of the fireplace. The evenings’ events will vary night to night, but expect to enjoy fine dining, hang out in the town’s pubs, and get to know some locals.

DAY FOUR.   CHICO HOT SPRINGS.  In the morning, we’ll load up for a scenic drive to Chico Hot Springs. Along the route, you’ll travel along the eastern front of the Rockies, pass over the Yellowstone River, and enter the Paradise Valley near Livingston.

Chico Hot Springs Resort is an historic hotel nestled underneath Immigrant Peak. The outdoor pools are fed by natural hot springs. After a couple days of skiing, you’ll enjoy relaxing in the hot pools and the option of a spa appointment. We’ll dine in the restaurant, one of the best in the state.

DAYS FIVE AND SIX.  SKIING AT BRIDGER BOWL.  We’ll have two days of skiing at the Bridger Bowl ski resort. Bridger has recently build new lodge facilities and added new lifts. Known for its open bowls and gladed tree skiing, Bridger is a Montana favorite.

In the evenings, we’ll be in Bozeman, a lively college town with an active main street. From the hotel you can walk to shops, pubs, restaurants, and art galleries.

DAY SEVEN.   RETURN HOME OR EXTEND YOU MONTANA SKI EXPERIENCE AT BIG SKY RESORT AND MOONLIGHT BASIN. Today, you can fly back home from the Bozeman Airport or extend your Montana skiing with a long weekend at Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin, the largest skiing in America.

EXTENSION. Add on a long weekend at Big Sky/Moonlight March 21-23. $995 package includes three nights at the Huntley Lodge, two day lift ticket to Big Sky/Moonlight, two breakfasts, two dinners, and OutWest Global Adventures host. Single supplement is $360 and usually optional.
